AYURVEDA

Ayurveda which means life´s wisdom is 5000 years old healing knowledge and originates from India. It teaches us how to maintain balance in our lives. Knowledge of Ayurveda helps us understand our individual nature and how we can experience joy and harmony within ourselves and with others.

Ayurveda gives us a complete, holistic system to maintain health, harmony and wellbeing in our body, life energy, mind, heart and soul. It is really the art of living.

Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) writes in his book ´The Vedas, Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita´:

The body of the Vedic poetry is simplicity.

The vital of the Vedic poetry is sincerity.

The mind of the Vedic poetry is clarity.

The heart of the Vedic poetry is purity.

The soul of the Vedic poetry is luminosity.

                                              -Sri Chinmoy-

According to Ayurveda nature manifests in energetic laws called doshas.

There are three doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

The law of movement, Vata, governs nature´s growth and decay.

The law of transformation, Pitta, governs nature´s creation and destruction.

The law of sustainability, Kapha, governs nature´s strength and stability.

When we are aware of these doshas we can maintain a harmonious balance or get back a lost balance through purification, right nutrition and by going deeper within to more subtle levels in life. All this is possible because inside us there is a greater wholeness.

When we learn what vata, pitta, kapha mean we get a deeper understanding about our differences and it becomes easier for us to accept ourselves and others. We learn to understand why different food suits us differently, why we react to cold and heat or stress differently. So we are all different in our constitution but in the differences we see the richness in life and respect for all types of people.

In our education programmes one can learn how Ayurveda accepts all knowledge that comes in the form of vision, idea or intuitive experience. This knowledge of our life should, according to Ayurveda, develop in close connection to nature and its laws. The natural laws of vata, pitta, kapha, when they are in balance help us maintain harmony within us and with others.

A lifestyle based on Ayurveda means balanced, protected and prolonged life quality.
